Mike Southgate, CEO and Founder of Playparty.net
In 1997, Mike Southgate, the father of two girls, created Playparty.net as an alternative to the standard, passive forms of entertainment offered at children’s birthday parties. He knew that some kids are afraid of clowns while others get restless during puppet or magic shows. Mike believed that for most kids, active, free-style play is a lot more fun than watching a performance.
Recalling his own childhood, Mike was inspired by the enduring popularity of LEGO bricks and Hot Wheels® race cars. He developed the Best LEGO Party and the Ultimate Race Car Party, engaging and exciting activities that encourage kids to play together and exercise their imaginations.
Boys and girls love Playparty and parents do, too! After experiencing a Race Car party or LEGO party at a child’s birthday celebration, moms and dads often ask us to return to do a party for a younger sibling. In addition, many satisfied clients have referred their friends and relatives to us. Playparty.net has been so successful that we’re now offering franchise opportunities.

Martin Bettis is the owner of Playparty-LA.net, which is a franchise of Playparty.net and located in Gardena, California. As a boy growing up in the South Bay, he enjoyed playing with LEGO bricks and Hot Wheels® race cars. Martin previously worked as a Playparty.net staff member and has been sharing the fun and excitement of the Best LEGO Party and the Ultimate Race Car Party with families throughout the Los Angeles area for over seven years. He lives in the South Bay with his wife and daughter.
